We brought the Golf to Nico, from Nick-O Auto Diagnostics. He drove it around and assured us this was a solid base for our conversion. He is going to do our mechanical work for free! That makes Nick’s our first official Sponsor! Thank you, Nico! We’ll be back soon to have you rip out the engine.

Last night we went to a really cool “green Carpet” event to benefit GreenARTusa.org . Luis Valenzuela asked us to showcase our car in his green art gallery for Art Basel 08, the first weekend of December. Now we have a deadline! We are going to wrap the car in some cool art to have it in display.

We went to two Earth Day events. One in Key Biscayne and one in Bicentennarial Park downtown. Here we met our fellow EV owners. Very nice guys. They agreed to show us their converted cars. Donato discovers his talent as a TV host (Ha!)
First we talked to Allan Miller. He has an old converted VW Cabrio. This is a home made conversion (kinda like the one we are doing). The car gets about 40 miles to the charge, which is good enough for him to commute to work and maybe go out to lunch or run an errand. What a nice guy… very enthusiasteic (see video). Thanks Allan!
Then, at the same event, we met Andrew Roddy. He has a really interesting EV. It is built by AC propulsion in California and he spent about $50,000 on the conversion (plus the cost of the car). He gets 120 miles to the charge tops and uses a lot of really advanced AC technology, like regenerative braking. The eBox (that’s the name of the car) is powered by a Lithium-Ion battery pack, just like laptops and cell phones, but they last way longer (see video). Thanks Andy.
In the second event we saw a very cool EV. A race car! Cliff Rassweiler is the driver of the ProEV Subaru electric race car. This one has 2 motors, crazy expensive and advanced batteries made by Kokam and can go really fast (see video). Maybe our second car will be for racing!
