We want to thank Vic Muñoz and Luana Hervier and all the members of the Free Yoga Miami group. They donated all proceeds from Last Saturday’s class to our project. This really helps!!! we love you guys!

Free Yoga Miami is a project started by Hector Alvarez in November, 2007, with the purpose to attempt, in this very stressful times, to have 1,000 people with little or no Yoga experience, practice Yoga for FREE at the park. The intention behind the project is to generate interest from non-Yoga practitioners in the hopes of creating a calmer, healthier, and more balanced community. The classes are donation-based and 100% of the proceedings are given to charity.
Today Luana Hervier and Vic Munoz are the head teachers and organizers of It’s Yoga… Miami, new volunteer teachers are constantly getting involved, and more and more practitioners are coming each Saturday to the park to practice, donate and share.
Here is a little article on them on the Coconut Grove Grapevine

Wow! so many things happening… The word is getting around, people are helping and all types of contributions are coming in. We were looking for a good artists to paint our car for Green Art Fair - Miami 2008, remember?
Well, when the internationally renowned painter and designer, Lebo (David Le Batard), found our about our project he was attracted to our mission and wanted to participate. His intention has always been to create positive social and environmental change through his art work, participating in a variety of projects from large-scale murals as restoration of public buildings to creating art education programs. When he saw our website he saw the opportunity to contribute with his tremendous talent to this environmental and social cause, adding an extra dimension to the project. His help and art direction have enabled the Miami EV Project to not only have a technological piece of environmental work, but also a unique, captivating piece of fine art to display in Green Art Fair Miami 2008 during Art Basel and future events.

He will be designing a wrap that we are going to put on the car. The design will represent all the work we are putting into converting our car and what the project represents: Change into a more sustainable way of thinking about transportation. Thanks for your help, brother!!!
Back in Dockside’s shop in Hollywood, FL. We kept going at it with the racks and the motor mount. We finished welding the rear battery rack that fits the aluminum battery box Azul made for us. We also lined it with PVC to protect the batteries and prevent any possible spills in case of an accident. Eric also finished the motor mount and Danny spend most of the day cutting a piece of 1/4 inch steel to reinforce the frame to hold the motor mount. All we need is some hardened bolts to hold the whole thing together.

Next Saturday we’ll finish installing the mount and welding in the front battery trays. Then, we’ll be ready to bring the car back to Miami, to start installing the electrical components!
Today, we received in the mail our latest contribution: a PakTrakr Intelligent Battery Monitoring System, donated by Ken Hall of kjhall motor company. He was interested in our project and our approach to the conversion, so he kindly offered to donate this system.
This is the system we really needed. PakTrakr monitors all the batteries in our pack and automatically gives us, in its 2 line display: pack state of charge, individual battery voltages, , Amps/Watts, battery bay temperature. It also displays alerts for: failing battery, low water likely, pack imbalance, damaged battery, low state of charge and overcharging.

With this system we will be able to extend the life of our batteries and give them the attention they need. Also, as we are going for a factory look on our conversion, the PakTrakr display will look great as it doesn’t stand out much beacuse it is black like the original interior of the car. We also got the current sensor and serial interface, so we ill be able to get all the data from the tracker and download it to a pc.
Want more info on the PakTrakr? click here. Thank you very much for this very important contribution, Ken!
